Life
Huh!
Life was funny that way. It hit you with something that makes you think. Think about all that happened in the past. Think about all that could happen in the future.
And….
That’s exactly what she did.
She made me think about all that I had done and all that I wanted to do. She was my inspiration. My nexus.
I turned and watched her, as she lay right next to me on the bed. She was more precious to me than anything. She was my heart and soul. All that I am is for her.
She was beautiful. Her brown eyes. I could watch them all day. Just drown myself in their loving pool.
As I watched her, the room went dim. Nothing was bright or important next to her. Everything was pale in comparison.
She made me happy. She accepted me as I was and gave me a chance. She loved me for me and only asks that I do the same in return. She loved me without caring about my faults and shortcomings. She loved me without caring if I had a dark side. Without judging. Without prejudice. Plain, simple. The purest love there is. Love without bounds, limits, barriers, lines. Love.
And I…. I am only a man in love with her.
She lay there on the bed. I could hear her breathing. I closed my eyes and listened to her. I knew I loved her, more than anything else in the world. I knew this was to be. I touched her face and, in her dreams, she smiled. I knew she was thinking about me. I loved her.
I leaned over and kissed her forehead.
“Goodnight my love. I love you.”
He knew she was worried and wanted to do something, yet he felt that he kept saying the wrong things.
He wanted to comfort her but did not want her to feel that he was taking advantage of her. He was at a lost. What was he to do? Looking at her as she sat by the kitchen counter he could see the worry and grief on her face. It hurt so much to see her in such pain and despair. She sat there drinking her morning coffee. He had not slept as yet as he stayed awake last night to watch over her. What was he to do? He felt it was his duty to protect and look out for her. Now his hands seemed virtually tied. He held his head, racking his brain to come up with some plan. She has been hurt so much. She called out.
“Ray? You coming for breakfast?”
I sighed.
“Yeah. Just a moment”
Her voice was so beautiful like a nightingale. So beautiful. She was beautiful. I watched her from the kitchen door. She did not deserve to have such grief.
No.
She only deserved the best.
